Dr. Ashleigh Taylor is a GP with a special interest in mental health. After graduating from Medicine at Wits, Ashleigh completed her internship in KZN. She did her community service year in the Northwest Province and was then allocated to a regional hospital’s Psychiatry department full-time. This experience led Ashleigh to pursue a career in mental health, completing a diploma in Mental Health with the Colleges of Medicine (SA). She spent three years working in the public sector in the field of mental health in Johannesburg. She worked both in hospitals and clinics and is comfortable managing a variety of mental illnesses, as well as life challenges faced by her patients. Ashleigh preferred Out Patient clinics as her passion is to help everyday people deal with the emotional and psychological problems in their lives. She supports the idea that a lot of problems could be solved by having a close look at one’s sleep, eating and exercise. More recently, she’s moved to Cape Town where she lives in the Southern Suburbs with her husband. Ashleigh sees it as a unique privilege to be a part of a family’s journey in mental health and helping them institute changes in their lives.
Upon recently joining the practice, Ashleigh hopes to assist with just that, for the patients of Bergvliet Family Practice.
