Dr Irma Louw is a Stellenbosch graduate who, over time, enjoyed expressing her interest in people in many forms of primary care, mostly as a GP for the past 24 years. She sees it as a particular privilege to get to know families over a longer period. She is interested in mental health, feels comfortable and enjoys seeing children and feels it’s an honour to be involved in people’s palliative care.
In the past she travelled to West Africa for short surgical stints (not doing the surgery but the preparation and care afterwards) and has diplomas in Paediatrics and Palliative Care. She has two grown children - Lesley, a teacher in Derby, UK and Neil, a data engineer in Johannesburg.
Second to them, she loves road running for the group breakfast and chat that follows, quilting strips, pottering around her home, travelling and photography.
