Alexa Berlein

Alexa Berlein

Alexa is a clinical psychologist with experience working therapeutically with clients from a range of age groups and backgrounds. She currently focuses on providing psychotherapy for adolescents and adults including adjustment to new environments, trauma recovery, and management of psychological conditions (e.g. anxiety disorders, depression, and mood disorders).

Her interest in adolescent psychology developed from early work experiences, including counseling at a high school and therapeutic involvement at Red Cross Children's Hospital. Through such exposure, she deepened her understanding of the challenges faced by high school learners, and their personal and identity growth tasks during this age. With a broad knowledge base acquired through training at psychiatric facilities, Alexa collaborates closely with other mental health professionals to assess and treat psychological conditions in both adolescents and adults. She additionally has experience with individuals in the hospital setting, and understands the impact of medical conditions and chronic illness on psychological health. Her client-centered approach emphasizes empathy and rapport building to facilitate effective therapy outcomes. She makes use of a range of therapeutic modalities and theories to understand the needs of each client and, at times uses a creative approach (both visual and verbal) to build insight, and personal coping strategies that can aid in alleviating psychological distress.
